Three Cords and the Truth

Understanding how the three persons [of the Trinity] work together answers many of our concerns regarding the stability of our salvation.

+ How can salvation fail us, when it was ordained by God the Father before there was even time?

+ How can sin condemn us when Christ has paid its penalty? How can God’s law assail us if Jesus has fulfilled it for us? How will the flesh, the world, or the devil destroy us while Christ now reigns in power, interceding for us in heaven?

+ How can I be included in this salvation? How can I know these things are not merely true in the abstract but true in me?. . .How do I know that I am one of those saved?

The answer is in the work of the Holy Spirit, who enters us into Christ by faith, thus to receive the benefits of this Triune saving work. The Bible says a cord of three strands is not easily broken (Eccles. 4:12); in the Trinity we have an unbreakable redemption in which we may rest secure.
