Call to Worship | God Gathers His Church

– Be Thou My Vision

Glory to God in the highest,
    and peace on earth among those with whom he is pleased!
Prepare the way of the Lord,
    make his paths straight.
Every valley shall be filled,
    and every mountain and hill shall be made low,
and the crooked shall become straight,
    and the rough places shall become level ways,
and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

Lord’s Prayer / El Padre Nuestro

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For yours is the kingdom
and the power and the glory forever.
Amen

Padre nuestro que estás en el cielo,
santificado sea tu nombre.
mas líbranos del mal;
Amen.

CONFESSION OF SINS | God Forgives His People

Minister: Brothers and sisters, if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (Be seated)

(Sentados)

C: O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules. We do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy. O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive. O Lord, pay attention and act. O my God, delay not, for your own sake, because your people are called by your name. (Daniel 9)

Assurance of Pardon / Seguridad de Perdón –

M: May God grant you the grace to feel and know that the blood of Jesus cleanses you from all your sins, and the Spirit of Christ consecrates us to God.

Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord.

Alzen sus corazones. Los alzamos al Señor.

Scripture Reading and Prayer – 2 Kings 5 (selected)

Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master and in high favor, because by him the Lord had given victory to Syria. He was a mighty man of valor, but he was a leper. Now the Syrians on one of their raids had carried off a little girl from the land of Israel, and she worked in the service of Naaman’s wife. She said to her mistress, “Would that my lord were with the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.”… Elisha the man of God…sent to the king, saying, “Let him come now to me, that he may know that there is a prophet in Israel.” So Naaman came … and stood at the door of Elisha’s house. And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored, and you shall be clean.”… So he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God, and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. Then he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and he came and stood before him. And he said, “Behold, I know that there is no God in all the earth but in Israel.” … [The man of God] said to him, “Go in peace.”

Collect: O Lord, mercifully receive the prayers of your people who call upon you, and grant that they may know and understand what things they ought to do, and also may have grace and power faithfully to accomplish them; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen

Sermon: Luke 7:2-10

Now a centurion had a servant who was sick and at the point of death, who was highly valued by him. When the centurion heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and heal his servant. And when they came to Jesus, they pleaded with him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy to have you do this for him, for he loves our nation, and he is the one who built us our synagogue.”And Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to him, “Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. Therefore I did not presume to come to you. But say the word, and let my servant be healed. For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me: and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turning to the crowd that followed him, said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.” And when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the servant well.

Pastoral Prayer — Isaiah 53

O Lord, truly your Son has borne our griefs
    and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken,
    smitten by God, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions;
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
    and with his wounds we are healed.

Confession of Faith

Congregation Reads – The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into death;
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy *catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen

Communion | God Nourishes His Church

The Lord’s Supper is for all baptized believers in good standing with an evangelical Church.

Words of Institution  / Palabras de Institucion – 1 Cor. 11:23-26

For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

Response / Respuesta

My soul magnifies the Lord,
    and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
he has filled the hungry with good things. (Magnifact, Luke 1)

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!

May the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ strengthen and preserve you steadfast in the true faith unto everlasting life. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Offering and Prayer of Thanksgiving / Ofrenda e Acción de Gracias —

Two things I ask of you;
    deny them not to me before I die:
Remove far from me falsehood and lying;
    give me neither poverty nor riches;
    feed me with the food that is needful for me,
lest I be full and deny you
    and say, “Who is the Lord?”
or lest I be poor and steal
    and profane the name of my God. Proverbs 30:7-9

»Sólo dos cosas te pido, Señor;
    no me las niegues antes de que muera:
Aleja de mí la falsedad y la mentira;
    no me des pobreza ni riquezas
    sino sólo el pan de cada día.
Porque teniendo mucho, podría desconocerte
    y decir: “¿Y quién es el Señor?”
Y teniendo poco, podría llegar a robar
Proverbios 30:7-9
