Prayer for the Church / Oracion por la Iglesia

O God, we pray for Christ Covenant Church, that she may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him in every way: being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (Col. 1:11-14)

Call to Worship | God Gathers His Church

Scripture Reading and Prayers / Lectura y Oracion – Psalm / Salmo 121

I lift up my eyes to the hills.

    From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
    who made heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot be moved;
    he who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he who keeps Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your keeper;
    the Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
    nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all evil;
    he will keep your life.
The Lord will keep
    your going out and your coming in
    from this time forth and forevermore.

A las montañas levanto mis ojos;
    ¿de dónde ha de venir mi ayuda?
Mi ayuda proviene del Señor,
    creador del cielo y de la tierra.

No permitirá que tu pie resbale;
    jamás duerme el que te cuida.
Jamás duerme ni se adormece
    el que cuida de Israel.

El Señor es quien te cuida,
    el Señor es tu sombra protectora.
De día el sol no te hará daño,
    ni la luna de noche.

El Señor te protegerá;
    de todo mal protegerá tu vida.

Lord’s Prayer / El Padre Nuestro

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For yours is the kingdom
and the power and the glory forever.

Padre nuestro que estás en el cielo,
santificado sea tu nombre.
mas líbranos del mal;

Confession of Sins | God Forgives His Church

Minister: Brothers and sisters, if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (Be seated)

(Sentados)

C: Father eternal, giver of light and grace, we have sinned against you and against our neighbor, in thought, word, and deed, through ignorance, through weakness, through our own deliberate fault. We have wounded your love and marred your image in us. We are ashamed and sorry, and we repent of all our sins. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, who died for us, we humbly ask you to forgive us all that is past; and lead us out from darkness to walk as children of light. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon / Seguridad de Perdón –

M: Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciledyou by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation. Col. 1:21-23

Lift up your hearts and worship the Lord.

Alzen sus corzones y adoren al Señor.

Consecration | God Equips His Church

Scripture Reading and Prayer – Deuteronomy 6:4-25 (selected)

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates…take care lest you forget the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. It is the Lord your God you shall fear. Him you shall serve and by his name you shall swear. You shall not go after other gods, the gods of the peoples who are around you— for the Lord your God in your midst is a jealous God—lest the anger of the Lord your God be kindled against you, and he destroy you from off the face of the earth…When your son asks you in time to come, ‘What is the meaning of the testimonies and the statutes and the rules that the Lord our God has commanded you?’ then you shall say to your son, ‘We were Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt. And the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand. And the Lord showed signs and wonders, great and grievous, against Egypt and against Pharaoh and all his household, before our eyes. And he brought us out from there, that he might bring us in and give us the land that he swore to give to our fathers. And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as we are this day. And it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to do all this commandment before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us.

Collect: O God, whose glory it is always to have mercy: Be gracious to all who have gone astray from your ways, and bring them again with penitent hearts and steadfast faith to embrace and hold fast the unchangeable truth of your Word, Jesus Christ your Son; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Sermon: Rules for Parents / Colossians 3:11-17, 21

Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him…Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.

Pastoral Prayer —

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, who sets the lonely in families: We commend to your continual care the homes in which your people dwell. Put far from them, we ask you, every root of bitterness, the desire of vainglory, and the pride of life. Fill them with faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness. Knit together in constant affection those who have been made one flesh in holy marriage. Turn the hearts of the parents to the children, and the hearts of the children to the parents; and turn our hearts to the Father, in Christ, by the Holy Spirit; and so kindle fervent charity among us all, that we may evermore be kind and affectionate to one another; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen (Based on Book of Common Prayer / adapted by JMT)

Confession of Faith

Congregation Reads – The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into death;
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy *catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.

Communion | God Nourishes His Church

The Lord’s Supper is for to all baptized believers in good standing with an evangelical Church.

Words of Institution — 1 Cor. 11:23-26

The Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

Reflection / Reflexion – Colossians / Colosense 3:1-4

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

As you received Christ Jesus as Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with gratitude. Col. 2:6

Offerings and Thanksgiving / Ofrendas e Acción de Gracias – 2 Cor. 9:7

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
