Call to Worship: God Gathers His Church

– O God of our Salvation

How lovely is your dwelling place,
    Lord of hosts!
My soul longs, yes, faints
    for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and flesh sing for joy
    to the living God.
Blessed are those who dwell in your house,
    ever singing your praise! Selah
Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer;
    give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah
Behold our shield, O God;
    look on the face of your anointed!
For a day in your courts is better
    than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
    than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
    the Lord bestows favor and honor.
No good thing does he withhold
    from those who walk uprightly.
Lord of hosts,
    blessed is the one who trusts in you! Psalm 84:1-2, 4, 8-12

¡Cuán hermosas son tus moradas,
     SeñorTodopoderoso!
Anhelo con el alma los atrios del Señor;
    casi agonizo por estar en ellos.
Con el corazón, con todo el cuerpo,
    canto alegre al Dios de la vida.
Dichoso el que habita en tu templo,
    pues siempre te está alabando.
Oye mi oración, Señor, Dios Todopoderoso;

    escúchame, Dios de Jacob.
Oh Dios, escudo nuestro,

    que mil fuera de ellos;
    que habitar entre los impíos.
El Señor es sol y escudo;
    Dios nos concede honor y gloria.
El Señor brinda generosamente su bondad
    a los que se conducen sin tacha.

Señor Todopoderoso,
    ¡dichosos los que en ti confían!

O God, who for our redemption did give your only-begotten Son to the death of the Cross, and by his glorious resurrection has delivered us from the power of our enemy; Grant us so to die daily from sin, that we may evermore live with him in the joy of his resurrection; through the same Christ our Lord. Amen (Book of Common Prayer)

Come Thou Fount

Confession of Sins | God Forgives His People

Minister: Brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, let us draw near and humbly confess our sins to God.

Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from Your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against Your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done; and there is nothing good in us. O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare those, O God, who confess their faults. Restore those who are penitent; according to Your promises declared unto men in Christ Jesus our Lord. Grant that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life; to the glory of His name. Amen

Hemos faltado a tus santas leyes.

Assurance of Pardon / Seguridad de Perdón

Minister: According to the promises of the new covenant, God will be merciful toward your iniquities and  remember your sins no more. Stand and lift up your hearts in worship, trusting that the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all our sins.

Consecration: God Equips His Church

OT Scripture Reading – “What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices? says the LORD; I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed beasts; I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of goats. “When you come to appear before me, who has required of you this trampling of my courts? Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination to me. New moon and Sabbath and the calling of convocations— I cannot endure iniquity and solemn assembly. Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates; they have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them. When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood. Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause. “Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be eaten by the sword; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.” (Isaiah 1:11-20)

Collect. Almighty and everlasting God, who in the Paschal mystery established the new covenant of reconciliation: Grant that all who have been reborn into the fellowship of Christ’s Body may show forth in their lives what they profess by their faith; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Message: The Zeal of the Lord — John 2:13-22

The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make my Father’s house a house of trade.” His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.” So the Jews said to him, “What sign do you show us for doing these things?” Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” The Jews then said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?” But he was speaking about the temple of his body. When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.

Pastoral Prayer – Based on Psalm 69

O God, you know our folly;
    the wrongs we have done are not hidden from you.

Let not those who hope in you be put to shame through Christ,
    O Lord God of hosts;
let not those who seek you be brought to dishonor through Christ,
    O God of Israel.
For it is for your sake that he bore reproach,
    that dishonor covered his face.
He became a stranger to his brothers,
    an alien to his mother’s sons.

For zeal for your house consumed him,
    and the reproaches of those who reproach you have fell on him.
But as for us, our prayer is to you, O Lord.

    At an acceptable time, O God,
    in the abundance of your steadfast love answer us in your saving faithfulness.
Deliver us from sinking in the mire;
let us be delivered from our enemies
    and from the deep waters.
Answer us, O Lord, for your steadfast love is good;
    according to your abundant mercy, turn to us.
Let your salvation, O God, set us on high!
We will praise the name of God with a song;
We will magnify him with thanksgiving.
This will please the Lord more than an ox
   or a bull with horns and hoofs.
When the humble see it they will be glad;
  you who seek God, let your hearts revive.
For the Lord hears the needy
 and does not despise his own people who are prisoners.
All this we pray in the name of Jesus. Amen

Confession of Faith: God Saves His Church

Congregation Recites – The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father,
Almighty Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into death;
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy *catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen

Scripture Reading —

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.” Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?” I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore,

they are before the throne of God,
and serve him day and night in his temple;
and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.
They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat.
For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
and he will guide them to springs of living water,
and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Revelation 7:9-17

Lectura —

    y día y noche le sirven en su templo;
    y los guiará a fuentes de agua viva;
    y Dios les enjugará toda lágrima de sus ojos.

[ Interlude ]

Offering and Prayer of Thanksgiving / Ofrenda e Acción de Gracias —

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For yours is the kingdom
and the power
and the glory forever.
Amen

Padre nuestro que estás en el cielo,
santificado sea tu nombre.
Venga tu reino;

mas líbranos del mal;
porque tuyo es el reino,
y el poder,
y la gloria, por todos los siglos.
Amen
