CALL TO WORSHIP | God Gathers His People

Welcome, Scripture Reading, and Prayers – (Isaiah 2:2-3)

Minister:  It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it, and many peoples shall come, and say:

Congregation: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.”

– Bless the Lord O My Soul (Psalm 103)

CONFESSION OF SINS | God Forgives His People

Minister: Brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, let us draw near and humbly confess our sins to God.

Minister: For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.”

Minster: Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.” But the law is not of faith, rather “The one who does them shall live by them.” Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith. – (Galatians 3:10-14 ESV)

Assurance of Pardon / Seguridad de Perdón –

Minister: According to the promises of the new covenant, God will be merciful toward your iniquities and remember your sins no more. Stand and lift up your hearts in worship, trusting that it is the blood of Jesus that cleanses us from all our sins.

CONSECRATION | God Equips His Church

Scripture Reading and Prayer – Luke 4:16-30

And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and he stood up to read. And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. And he began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” And all spoke well of him and marveled at the gracious words that were coming from his mouth. And they said, “Is not this Joseph’s son?” And he said to them, “Doubtless you will quote to me this proverb, ‘Physician, heal yourself.’ What we have heard you did at Capernaum, do here in your hometown as well.” And he said, “Truly, I say to you, no prophet is acceptable in his hometown. But in truth, I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heavens were shut up three years and six months, and a great famine came over all the land, and Elijah was sent to none of them but only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha, and none of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian.” When they heard these things, all in the synagogue were filled with wrath. And they rose up and drove him out of the town and brought him to the brow of the hill on which their town was built, so that they could throw him down the cliff. But passing through their midst, he went away.

Collect. Almighty and everlasting God, you govern all things both in heaven and on earth: Mercifully hear the supplications of your people, and in our time grant us your peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Sermon: Following the Bread Crumbs to Christ – Mark 7.24-30

And after rising, Jesus went away into the region of Tyre [and Sidon]. And not wanting anyone to know, he entered into a house, but he wasn’t able to escape notice. Immediately, having heard about him, a woman, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, came, and she fell before his feet. But the woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by race, and she was asking that He might cast a demon out of her little daughter. And he began to say to her, “Go away, first the children are to be fed [and filled], for it is not right to take the bread of the children and to throw it to the little dogs.” But she answered and said to Him, “Lord, even the little dogs under the table eat the crumbs of the children.” And He said to her, “because of this word go, the demon has gone out from your daughter.” And after she went away to her house she found the child lying on the bed and the demon had gone out.

CONFESSION OF FAITH

Congregation Reads – Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into death.
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy *catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
 Amen

COMMUNION | God Nourishes His Church

If you have been baptized into Christ, trust Him as your only hope for Salvation, and are communicants in good standing at any evangelical church, then you are invited to take the elements as they are passed. Please hold them until such time that we partake of them together.

Communion Meditation and Prayer — Galatians 3:26-29

In Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.

Offerings and Thanksgiving / Ofrendas e Acción de Gracias

For we were called to freedom, brothers. Only let us not use our freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” – Gal 5:13-14
