Lord’s Day 6 + 8 February 2015
Fifth Sunday after Epiphany
CALL TO WORSHIP | God Gathers His People
– Arise O God and Shine
Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of the God of Jacob,
that he may teach us his ways
and that we may walk in his paths. Micah / Miqueas 4:2
«Vengan, subamos al monte del Señor,
a la casa del Dios de Jacob.
Dios mismo nos instruirá en sus caminos,
y así andaremos en sus sendas.»
CONFESSION OF SINS | God Forgives His People
Minister: Let us humbly confess our sins to God Almighty either sitting or kneeling.
Ministro: Confesemos humildemente nuestros pecados a Dios Todopoderoso o sentados o puestos de rodillas.
Minister: Have mercy on us, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy, blot out our transgressions. Wash us thoroughly from our iniquity, and cleanse us from our sin! Hide your face from our sins, and blot out all our iniquities. Create in us a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within us. Then our tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness. Amen Psalm / Salmo 51
Amen
Minister: O Lord, open our lips, and our mouth will declare your praise.
Ministro: Abre, Señor, nuestros labios, y nuestra boca proclamará tu alabanza.

CONSECRATION | God Equips His People
Scripture Reading and Prayer – 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8
Brothers [and sisters], we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more. For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality;that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one transgress and wrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned you. For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness. Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.
Collect. O Lord, we ask you to keep your Church and household continually in your true religion; that all who lean only upon the hope of your heavenly grace may evermore be defended by your mighty power; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Sermon: Genesis 39
Pastoral Prayer –
O God our Savior, we confess that your foundation stands firm, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.” You have consecrated us to yourself in the waters of baptism, now cleanse us for yourself with the word of the gospel and the Spirit of holiness. Grant us the grace and the will to flee youthful passions, and to pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with all those everywhere who call on the Lord from a pure heart. Help us to have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; which only breed quarrels. Help us, your servants, not to be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, to be teachable and able to teach, and to patiently endure evil, with all gentleness. Finally, grant all enemies of the cross and the church true repentance that leads to a knowledge of the truth, that they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will. For the glory of Christ and the good of the world we pray. Amen

CONFESSION | God Receives His People
We believe Christ is the head of the church, his body,
and he is its Savior.
We believe Christ loved the church
and gave himself up for her,
that he might sanctify her.
He cleansed her by the washing of water with the word
so that he might present the church
to himself in splendor,
without spot or wrinkle or any such thing,
that she might be holy and without blemish.
And we believe Christ nourishes and cherishes the church,
because we are members of his body.

COMMUNION | God Nourishes His People
Scripture Reading and Prayer —
Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through his own blood. Therefore let us go to him outside the camp and bear the reproach he endured. For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come. Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. Heb 13:12-15
[ Interlude ]
Offerings and Thanksgiving / Ofrendas e Acción de Gracias —
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” … Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. Heb 13:5, 16

COMMISSION | God Sends His People
Benediction: May the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it. 1 Thes 5:23-24
Bendición: Que Dios mismo, el Dios de paz, los santifique por completo, y conserve todo su ser —espíritu, alma y cuerpo— irreprochable para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. El que los llama es fiel, y así lo hará.
