Third Sunday after Epiphany
Lord’s Day 4 – January 25, 2015
CALL TO WORSHIP | God Gathers His Church
– Bless the Lord O My Soul (Psalm 103)
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Psalm 103:1-5
Alaba, alma mía, al Señor;
alabe todo mi ser su santo nombre.
Alaba, alma mía, al Señor,
y no olvides ninguno de sus beneficios.
Él perdona todos tus pecados
y sana todas tus dolencias;
él rescata tu vida del sepulcro
y te cubre de amor y compasión;
él colma de bienes tu vida
y te rejuvenece como a las águilas.
CONFESSION OF SINS | God Forgives His Church
Minister: Let us humbly confess our sins to God Almighty either sitting or kneeling.
Ministro: Confesemos humildemente nuestros pecados a Dios Todopoderoso o sentados o puestos de rodillas.
Minister: We confess that we are like our forefathers. They turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck and would not obey. Many years you bore with them and warned them by your Spirit through your prophets. Yet they would not give ear. Therefore you gave them into the hand of their enemies. Nevertheless, in your great mercies you did not make an end of them or forsake them, for you are a gracious and merciful God. Nehemiah 9:29-31
Minister: Stand up and bless the Lord your God from everlasting to everlasting. Blessed be your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise. Nehemiah 9:5
Ministro: «¡Vamos, bendigan al Señor su Dios desde ahora y para siempre! ¡Bendito seas, Señor! ¡Sea exaltado tu glorioso nombre, que está por encima de toda bendición y alabanza!

CONSECRATION | God Equips His Church
Scripture Reading and Prayer — Hebrews 11:8-13
By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God. By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised. Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore. These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return. But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.
Collect. O loving Father, who wills us to give thanks for all things, to dread nothing but the losing You, and to cast all our cares on you, who cares for us; keep us from faithless fears and worldly anxieties, and grant that no clouds of this mortal life may hide from us the light of that love which is immortal, and which you have manifested to us in your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Sermon – A Dream within the Dream (Read Genesis 37:1-11)
Then he dreamed another dream and told it to his brothers and said, “Behold, I have dreamed another dream. Behold, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” But when he told it to his father and to his brothers, his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall I and your mother and your brothers indeed come to bow ourselves to the ground before you?” And his brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the saying in mind.
O triune God, I give thanks to you with joy, because of your people at Christ Covenant Church, and their partnership in the gospel over the past several years until now. And I ask that you who began a good work in this church will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. And it is my prayer that our love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that we may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. Amen

CONFESSION OF FAITH | God Sustains His Church
I believe in God the Father,
Almighty Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into death.
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy *catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.

COMMUNION | God Nourishes His Church
Scripture Reading and Prayer / Lectura y Oración –
For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. Phil 3:18-21
[ Interlude – Instrumental ]
Offerings and Thanksgiving / Ofrendas e Acción de Gracias –
I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Phil 4:11-13
