CALL TO WORSHIP | God Gathers His Church

The Lord is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him. (Hab 2:20)

CONFESSION OF SINS God Forgives His Church

Minister: Be seated, and let us humbly confess our sins unto Almighty God in silent prayers.

Ministro: Sentados, confesemos humildemente nuestros pecados a Dios Todopoderoso en silencio.

Minister: Like the tax collector, who stood far off, and would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, so we confess, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Minister: Stand up, lift your head and your heart, trusting that the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. Our King and Savior draws near: Come, let us worship and adore him.

CONSECRATION | God Equips His Church

Scripture Reading and Prayer —

What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh? For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works: “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin.” … But the words “it was counted to him” were not written for his sake alone, but for ours also. It will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification. (Romans 4:1-8, 23-25)

The Collect.

Blessed Lord, who has caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning; Grant that we may hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, in such a way, that by patience and comfort of your holy Word, we may embrace, and ever hold fast, the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Advent: War Cries for the Savior
Sermon – Zechariah’s Song: A Horn of Salvation (Luke 1:67-75)

And his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied, saying,

“Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
for he has visited and redeemed his people
and has raised up a horn of salvation for us
in the house of his servant David,
as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old,
that we should be saved from our enemies
and from the hand of all who hate us;
to show the mercy promised to our fathers
and to remember his holy covenant,
the oath that he swore to our father Abraham,
to grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies,
might serve him without fear,
in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.”

Pastoral Prayer: O God of peace, who has taught us that in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and in confidence shall be our strength; By the power of your Spirit lift us up, we pray, to your presence, where we may be still and know that you are God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (Prayer for Quiet Confidence)

CONFESSION OF FAITH | God Sustains His Church

Congregation Recites the Apostles’ Creed –

I believe in God the Father,
Almighty Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into death [realm of departed souls];
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy *catholic [universal] church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen

 Why Should I Fear?

COMMUNION | God Nourishes His Church

Scripture Reading and Prayer /  Lectura y Oración –

I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:9-13

Let us pray like this:

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For yours is the kingdom
and the power and the glory forever.
Amen

Oremos así:

Padre nuestro que estás en el cielo,
santificado sea tu nombre,
venga tu reino,
hágase tu voluntad
en la tierra como en el cielo.
Danos hoy nuestro pan cotidiano.

Offerings and Thanksgiving / Ofrendas e Acción de Gracias –

Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common … There was not a needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold and laid it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need. Acts 4:32, 34

Come Thou Long Expected Jesus
